The museum is located in the former Asland cement factory<\/strong>. This factory is a jewel of Catalan modernist industrial architecture of the twentieth century and was inaugurated in 1904<\/strong> by the businessman Eusebi G\u00fcell. <\/p>

One of the great challenges of the factory was to be able to adapt its construction to the orography of the place, something that was carried out by the architect Rafael Guastavino, an architect known for his flat brick vaults (the Catalan vault).<\/p>

The Asland Factory was essential for the industrial growth of the time<\/strong>, as it was capable of producing large quantities of cement for all those works that were carried out in Catalonia.<\/p>

In order to transport all this production, the so-called “Cement Train” was built in its day, which today is a tourist train. This narrow-gauge railway connected the factory with Guardiola de Bergued\u00e0, so it was essential in the cement industry because it took the entire area of the upper Bergued\u00e0 out of isolation<\/strong>. <\/p>

The factory, history of cement, was in operation until 1975. A few years after its closure, in 1996, the Generalitat de Catalunya acquired the site to finally inaugurate the museum in 2002. This museum is part of the National Museum of Science and Technology System of Catalonia and in 2005<\/strong> it was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest<\/strong>, all the more reason to justify a visit to the museum. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
