. REGION It is one of the most interesting regions of Catalonia and that has earned him a short break dedicate three days before the end of the year. Too little time for a region that combines lot of enclaves which are highly attractive, whether in what refers to the culture, history, nature and gastronomy.
In this first post I will give you one brief summary of some of those places that must be seen in the Berguedà in a first visit to the area and we could enjoy family this fall. I will also comment on where we have had the opportunity to stay in the countryside and in a privileged location in the center of the region. A very charming place that is an attraction in itself.
TO SEE IN THE BERGUEDÀ IN 3 DAYS.
CAN VIDAL AND INDUSTRIAL LLOBREGAT COLONIES.
Even more than fifteen industrial colonies settled on the banks of the River Llobregat from the late nineteenth century. Some of them are visitable and pose a extraordinary witness of an era that marked the transition of manufacturing to industrial society.
Specifically, the Fluvial Park Colonies Llobregat, brings eighteen industrial complexes of this type. Authentic small built de novo cities where factory workers were moved to live in the colonial complex that it had all kinds of services, such as schools, theaters, cinemas and shops. It was at this time that the Catalan textile industry was among the most productive in the world.
Although most of the Textiles colonies Llobregat closed their doors during the crisis of the eighties of the last century, many of them are still alive as neighboring communities. Some factories, the least have been sold and a new manufacturing company occupies the space of the former colony. The truth is that these small population centers are worth being known. visited the Colonia de Can Vidal, Which has been museizada to understand the importance of manufacturing colonies of the Llobregat and what was their mode of operation. We also visited the Tower of Cologne Viladomiu New OwnerWhere he lived the owner of the colony when it moved to it from home, usually in Barcelona. Two very interesting visits to devote an entire post.
Very close to the capital region, Berga, is located this small shrine dedicated to the Virgin of Queralt, Patron of the city. From 1200 meters above sea level, on top of a hill, the Santuario de Queralt dominates the city of Berga and much of the region. No wonder it is known as the Balcony of Catalonia.
The image of the Virgin of Queralt is one of the most beloved in Catalonia. It is a carving of the XIV century that preserves Romanesque and Gothic details.
There are several walks and trails that can sail from this place. We simply enjoy the scenery, the beautiful views of the entire region from the balcony of Catalonia and to delight with the flight of several raptors, apparently prowling this beautiful area very often
SALDES Y EL PEDRAFORCA
The Pedraforca, a solid composed of two peaks, is one of the most iconic and photogenic mountains of Catalonia. It has two peaks, the Pollegó Superior (at 2506 meters) and the Pollegó less (at 2445 meters) and represents one of the most characteristic images of Central Catalonia.
His rise is a beautiful hiking trail that requires minimal preparation and that was out of our goals. However we did not want visit the Berguedà without approaching one of its most legendary points. That is why we took the car towards the small mountain village of Saldes. It is a municipal core of no more than 300 inhabitants, with the houses built in stone. Most notably building the church of Sant MartíWhat really makes Saldes a place of exceptional beauty is the framework in which it is located, with the Pedraforca massif behind.
Of course, the Pedraforca is one of the natural areas there to see in the Berguedà and the municipality of Saldes is a good place to do it.
We did not have time to climb to the viewpoint of Gresolet, located a few kilometers from Saldes and less to the pretty village of Gósol. Both places are worth and are a short distance from Saldes. No clutch, the day is short in autumn and gets dark too early, so we had to leave for another time these visits.
Neither had time to stop at the Museum of the Mines of Cercs, halfway between Berga and Saldes. Cristina, travel blog, Kris for the world if he could visit him during his day by the High Berguedà.
There are several small people must see in Berguedà. At Gósol and Saldes said would add a third: Bagà. This is another small population center. In this case, the population has about two thousand inhabitants.
Virtually all homes in the historic center are built in this typical stone of these latitudes. Ramps, narrow streets nooks and eventually converge in the beautiful arcaded square Galceran de Pinós, built in the thirteenth century as a whole medieval center of this beautiful town.
Is this a good place to stroll leisurely and without major objectives that enjoy the small town. The church of San Esteban, tardorománica, or Vila Bridge are two of its most notable buildings. We could not help us with some cheeses and rich sausages sold in some of the delicatessens of the population. Delicious, how could it be otherwise.
THE ROMANCE OF BERGUEDÀ
Son Several Romanesque churches worth visiting in Berguedà. Unfortunately, we could not include in our program All the more important of San Quirze Pedret. Visiting hours are too few and had to choose between visiting this church or do the same with the Colonia Vidal of which I have already spoken.
We also visited the Church of Santiago de Frontanyà, Located in the smallest municipality in Catalonia. The temple is a real charmer and one of the most beautiful of the Catalan Romanesque. We ordered the keys in the restaurant located just opposite to enjoy this temple that was the church of the Augustinian monastery of the same name.
It is a work of the eleventh century, clearly Lombard influence (evidenced by the blind arcuaciones facade and apses), with a single nave, transept and three apses. The ship is closed with a barrel vault, but the most original is the formidable dome which is located on the cruise, unique in Catalonia with 12 sides. is this one of the crowning works of the Catalan Romanesque and one of the must-see buildings in Berguedà, Although this we should divert some of the most hackneyed route.
Artigas Gardens in La Pobla de Lillet
La Pobla de Lillet is another lovely village, situated on the banks of the river Llobregat, which has some interesting churches and even two beautiful medieval bridges. However, our goal was the Artigas Gardens belonging to this population.
Artigas Gardens were designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí for the Artigas family housing.
I will discuss the Artigas Gardens in a future post. Just to tell you that your visit worth and is also one of the few works that the genius of Reus left outside Barcelona in Catalonia is also to show his skills as a landscaper.
Castle N'HUG FUENTES Y LLOBREGAT.
This beautiful population of Upper Berguedà one of the most beautiful villages in Catalonia. Located in an enviable location almost 1400 meters above sea level, it maintains a core of precious historical houses built in stone and wood that make it one of the most picturesque harmonics and sets the whole community.
To this we must add a fantastic mountain cuisine which I will give account in a post dedicated to the population and it is the seat of one the most famous competitions throughout Catalonia: International Competition sheepdog in Castellar de n'Hug. That is, the sheepdog. This competition is held annually on the last Sunday of August, pastors come from different latitudes compete in skill.
The second reason that makes famous people of Castellar de N'hug is that this is where we find River Llobregat sources, One of the most important in Catalonia. You need only a few steps down from the village to reach in less than twenty minutes, the set of jumping and waterfalls that initiate the Llobregat river and, after 175 kilometers, will lead in the Mediterranean Sea.
WHERE TO STAY IN Bergedà: THE BERGA RESORT.
I want to talk now where we have stayed three days we have had the opportunity to visit the Berguedà. We have done so in the it's ideal for.
It is those who might say a camp site of new generation. That is, an establishment located in the countryside yet only 5 km from Berga, the regional capital, and reconciles both what are traditional campers with the usual plots are rented to establish there the caravan as a number of bungalows, chalets and mobile home that allow the traveler who wants to enjoy accommodation in the countryside and the resort amenities Berga Resort, stay with optimum comfort levels.
We stayed in a mobile homeA space of 24 square meters has two bedrooms with 4 beds in total, bathroom with shower, a kitchen with everything you need and a small dining room. The truth is that this is a very spacious and comfortable.
Other options include attractive wooden bungalows with room for two adults and a space of 12 square meters or bungalows-plus, with capacity for 4 or 5 people and an area of 30 square meters.
Beyond to stay in the countryside Berga Resort has its strength in numerous services offered.
For example, we could enjoy the Wellness Spa CenterA complete spa circuit with 13 stations, including saunas, hammam and various types of hydrothermal pools. It was great to enjoy the spa returned from our second day of stay in the Berguedà in this circuit lasts approximately an hour and a half.
In addition, children have their place in the Berga Resort, so that while Isa and I relaxed at the Wellness Spa Center, Marc could do the same in the Mini-Club Children, Where two monitors are dealing with children while they enjoy a full child chiquiparc, which they call Jumps park and comprising, for example, various ball pools. The work was to rescue our Marc when we returned from Spa. For him, an hour and a half was not enough and preferred to continue with the activities programmed the monitors before going to dinner.
On Saturday morning, since our visit to the Colonia Vidal started at 11 am, could enjoy the two heated indoor swimming pools. Ideal if visiting the Berguedà in autumn or winter. In summer also open two outdoor swimming pools, equipped with a long water slide.
And sports enthusiasts also have their place in the Berga Resort, beyond the pools commented. The sports center has 12,000 square meters of facilities and equipment, neither more nor less. A gym with more than 100 machines and several tennis and paddle tennisAlthough these must be paid to part (EUR 5 and 9 per hour, respectively).
The truth is that the stay at the Berga Resort seemed very comfortable and recommended. As we say, to stay in the countryside on our visit to Berguedà and enjoy and relax in their facilities when returning from our daily visits was great.
I hope this post I encourage you to visit the region. You see that there are many places there to see in the Berguedà, One of the most beautiful places in Catalonia.
